Flu Clinic Update
Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who showed up for our Over 65's flu clinic on Saturday 19th September.
We had an unprecedented attendance and thanks to fab teamwork, some good weather and the new format we had put in place, the day ran very smoothly.
We administered a whopping 1200 vaccines and just to put that into some sort of context, on previous years a Saturday flu clinic has seen us administer 300 vaccines.
Obviously this year was always going to be bigger due to the pandemic but it's safe to say we never imagined it would be so big. In light of this we now have only a limited number of vaccines available until our next delivieres are confirmed. For this reason we have had to make changed to the clinics that were planned for this week.
Please see the changes detailed below:
Thursday 24th September - 5:30-7:00pm (Over 65s shielded patients only) - WILL NOW BE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
We will be contacting eligible patients over the next few days to book them an appointment for this clinic. Please do not attend if you do not have an appointment.
Saturday 26th September - 8:00-12:00pm (Over 65s Only) - CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER DELIVERIES ARRIVE
Just to reassure anyone that hasn't received their vaccination yet, we are expecting further deliveries due in October. As soon as we have these dates confirmed we will be able to plan and reschedule a clinic. Updates will be posted around the surgery, on our website and on our Facebook page.
We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience caused.
We ask for your patience. As soon as we have confirmation that our vaccines will be delivered when expected we will be able to arrange our clinics and publish clinic dates.
Those patients eligible for this year’s flu vaccination/nasal spray will receive an invite from the practice in due course advising them to book an appointment.
50-64 year olds
Later in the year, the flu vaccine may be given to people aged 50 to 64. More information will be available later in the autumn. If you are in this group and do not have an underlying condition, we ask for your co-operation by waiting until this information is available. Currently, practices only have access to the vaccines for the at risk groups. As soon as the Department of Health announces the availability of extra vaccines for this new cohort, we will be able to plan the appropriate clinics.
